THE GIFT OF LOVE

Picture76-1-1-1-1-1
She wants to be my daughter
With me she feels safe and protected
Her journey in life has taken her to many rough places.
It hasn’t been easy for her; she has felt misery and pain.
I walked in her footsteps for a mile or two.
And I cried when I seen what I had to view.
As a small child she was beaten and raped.
Wherever she turned there was no escape.
She thought life was the way it was supposed to be.
She didn’t know love would wipe away misery.
As she grew into adulthood things even got worse.
Life was not what it should be; she was living a curse.
When I met her I felt a deep burning in side.
Here was a girl who had lost all her pride.
I am glad lives journey caused her to detour.
And brought her to knock on my front door.
It is a mission that the Lord has given to me.
To give her the gift of love
And take away her misery.

WANNA BE POET

If I was a poet I’d dance on the rooftops
and let everyone know it
But I am not a true poet so I’ll sing in the street
and stand up to the heat
Making poems and short stories
takes a special knack of that I know.
What I write is a poor attempt
to be the star of the show.
Never the less I’ll keep trying
and tag along with the flow.
Maybe someday I’ll write something
that will stand with the best
If that ever happens
I’ll put my pen down
and rest.

PEACE

I am in such a peaceful atmosphere
With a touch of mystery in the distance.
It’s three in the morning perception at full bloom
My imagination has taken me back to a life in tune.

All alone and in tune with the past
Like a lonely fisherman the spell is cast
Memory lane is open and beckons a stroll
Flashbacks in memories to stories untold.

Successes and failures drift away in thin air.
Visions of a love affair of time filled with care.
Dreams lost in the shadows of deception.
Left only with words as my conception.

It is peaceful tonight and I can see the light.
Looking over the horizon and into the twilight.
What was once had can never be lost.
A walk down memory lane is the only cost

A WORLD OF DREAMS

A World of Dreams

I often find myself in a world of dreams.

A world where I dream all kinds of things.

I see myself handsome and rich and quite debonair.

All the wonders of life are mine to give and share.

What more could I want, then that what is mine.

Just where in my dreams do I dot the end line

There's peace and good will for all of mankind

What more in this world could I wish to find.

A dream is a dream and it can come true.

For everything in life is all up to you.

And this my dear Friend is what Cash has to say.

Keep all your dreams in tack don't let them get away.

VISITED BY AN ANGEL

I woke up to see who it was that was calling me.
At the foot of my bed stood an angel all dressed in silk and satin.
Her hair was pure gold and her wings were of platinum.
Her smile sparkled like shiny white pearls.

There was an aura around her it was a magic rainbow,
lined with diamonds and rubies and the rarest of gems.
In the background was music only heaven could send.
The whole room was filled with love, compassion and content.

As I spoke to her I knew she was from heaven above.
She said she was sent here to find me someone to love.
You need someone special that's meant just for you.
Someone who'll listen and share and be a part of you.
I said if you're looking for a companion for me,
I have my four legged family to keep me company.
She said I know and they can't be replaced,
but you need a women to love and embrace.

A misty white cloud came to sweep her away,
and this is the last thing that I heard her say.
You've found success in a good many ways
but your trip is not over until your dreams are fulfilled.

I'll find you a mate to complete your desires
And give you the love and the passion that you really need.
You'll know happiness like you've never known before.
You'll know that your life has reached it's ultimate goal.

As she faded away I could barely hear her final words;
"Not only have you been touched but you've been kissed by an Angel."

SHEEBA

Hello My Name is Sheeba

Boy if you want to know who your true friends are chew up something they like and if they still stick by you they’ll be your friends for life. I know because I chewed up Big Daddy’s cowboy boots and ate his false teeth and that was only the beginning of my terrorist chew ups. Next I chewed up all the wires under his desk and he spent a day splicing them back together. When he finally got back on the internet I gnawed the Comcast cable and shut the whole works down for three days. You could hear Big Daddy holler and scream but when the madness wore off his unconditional love shined through.
Let me tell you my brief story, that is if you can spend a minute or two but bare in mind I’m not a writer that is something Big Daddy Cash can do. Cash didn’t know what he was in for when he adopted me you see I’m a four legged holy terror but I can’t help it cause I’m just a wee little puppy doing what wee little puppies do. Hmm, let me see, oh yes it all had its beginning on Cashes birthday; he saw me on a TV show about animals needing a home and said I want that cute little puppy and I want her today. He called the humane society and adopted me right on the spot. I’m one of the lucky ones because I had one day before I was to be euthanized. Anyway right from the start I had six four legged brothers and sisters, five canines and one feline. I didn’t know it at the time but a feline is a cat. All together we are one big happy family even the cat. Big daddy Cash is the master of our domain it is a true to life menagerie. Finding a home with this animal loving son of a gun was my lucky day. Well I said I’d be brief and I meant it maybe Big Daddy will write a little something about me just for the fun of it. Da, da, da, That’s all Folks!! Sheeba

A COWBOYS EPITAPH

All day I ride the lonesome trail.
I sing a song of a cowboy tale.
My thoughts ramble as I ride alone
I dream of the filly I left back home.

I think of women, cards and whiskey
And of the SOB that tried to shoot me.
Life is so hard ya gotta get real tough.
You take all you can then ya gotta git ruff.

I dream of someday owning a big spread.
But at 30 a month, before I get there I'll be dead.
A cowboy has a heart as tuff as iron and steel.
And a cowboy can't reveal the broken heart he feels.

So today I'll write a cowboys epitaph.
It will be a short draft the words I'll craft.
"Here lies the cowboy once made of steel.
Now he's up in heaven as a wagon wheel."
